ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Energy Efficient designs are the way of the future whether it is a New Residence or a Commercial Building. Energy Efficient designs can be implemented to reduce heating/cooling costs, reducing energy consumption and Co2 emissions subsequently reducing energy costs.
The Tower Hill Eco Demonstrations Centre is an example of our knowledge and expertise in designing Sustainable, Energy Efficient design achieving a 9.4 Star Energy Rating.

The client for this project was the Sunraysia Institute of Tafe who in conjunction with Sustainability Victoria, VicUrban, Swan Hill Rural City Council, Central Murray Region Waste Management Group and the National Centre of Sustainability, received the funding to develop The Tower Hill Eco Demonstration Centre. The purpose of the Centre is to implement and showcase basic principles of Sustainability.  In turn, the aim is to create a sustainable community by facilitating greater understanding and awareness of energy efficient design and sustainability practices.
A major component of successfully developing the Eco Demonstration Centre was in the design, making the most of features to achieve high energy efficiency. Our brief was to design a building that could achieve the maximum energy efficient rating whilst meeting the requirements of the design fitting into a typical urban housing development. Utilising “First Rate 5” software we were able to model different building scenarios including construction of walls, roof, windows and shading designs to achieve the nine star rating.   
The Centre provides the community with the opportunity to acquire both technical and practical information that will assist them in making informed decisions about designing and building sustainable energy efficient buildings.
